We raise money for two charities:
Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder Tübingen
Every year 2000 children are diagnosed with cancer in Germany alone. The diagnosis doesn't just impact the child, with the family feeling as if the world has been swept away from under their feet. Family life is completely turned on its head and everything revolves around one question: 'Will my child survive this terrible disease?' The Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder Tübingen (Charity for children with cancer Tübingen) has worked tirelessly for over 35 years to support children with cancer and their families.
What they do
The charity gives courage, help and hope to the affected families:
- at the charity's headquarters in Tübingen there is a dedicated family house, where families can stay whilst their children are being treated at the nearby cancer treatment centre
- families are offered therapy sessions during all stages of the disease, including palliative situations and post-treatment care
- organised activities for patients, their parents and siblings, including meeting other families in the family house, to help each other through the process
- the charity also finances extra staff at the nearby treatment centre and research into the disease
Why they need your help
Everything that they do for the children and their families is financed by donations, they receive nothing from the government or the insurance companies. Therefore the vital work that they do can only be financed together with people who realise the necessity of the work they are doing and support the cause by donating.
Integramus e.V.
Integramus e.V. was originally founded with the intention of helping to integrate foreign children and adults, as well as helping to develop communities through educational work. The focus of the charity has shifted since then, and they mainly work on helping communities in Africa.
What they do
The charity has various different projects in Kenya, Togo, and the Ukraine, as well as Germany itself. Since the inception of the charity over 15 years ago, over 5 wells have been built in villages in Africa, and over 1,500 children have benefited from the work of the organisation. In 2004 the charity started its work in Africa with the renovation of the Mwamanga Primary School in Kenya. A Kindergarten in Biga, Kenya was also financed by Integramus, and, has seen 900 students pass through its doors in the intervening 10 years, whilst another school was built with charity funds in Anfoko in Togo. The organisation's work in Germany includes helping refugees settle into the country, whether that be help with learning the language or advising local government services on how they can improve the integration process.
Why they need your help
The charity has already positively affected the lives of 1,500 children in Africa through their work in Togo and Kenya, and has many ambitious goals for future work, as well as projects already in the pipeline. Your donations go a long way to helping the charity develop and improve the lives of many people in Africa and Germany, through its integration work or building facilities such as wells and schools.
